Listings & product copy
Titles, bullets, tags, meta and translations: lock the product facts first, then let AI draft within each platform's rules.
If you want AI to write your listings, reverse the usual order: lock the product facts and platform limits first, then ask for candidates. Give a model one photo and a few keywords and it will happily invent a material or a performance claim.
Each platform counts differently. Amazon US titles outside media categories now stop at 75 characters, Etsy caps each tag at 20 characters, Shopify page titles max out at 70, and Merchant Center shows only the first 70 characters in many places. Count with a real tool, never on the model's word.

How do I shorten Amazon titles to 75 characters?
Keep the brand, product type and the single most important differentiating attribute in the title. Move material, compatible models, size or box contents into Item Highlights, which allows up to 125 characters. Per Amazon's notice for the US marketplace, the limit applies from 27 July 2026 outside media categories. Count both fields with a real counter rather than trusting the model. Read more →
Should I use DeepL or ChatGPT to translate product listings?
Use DeepL with a glossary for specs, manuals and fixed terminology, where faithfulness and consistency matter most. Use ChatGPT when titles and selling points need reorganising for a market, audience or channel. The safer workflow uses both: a faithful DeepL base, a constrained ChatGPT rewrite, then a back-translation check on numbers, units and negations. Read more →
How long should a Shopify meta description be?
Shopify's SEO documentation suggests around 160 characters for the meta description, with the page title up to 70 characters and ideally around 60 so it isn't truncated. Every page should have its own title and description. Leave out prices and discounts, since they change, and hand-check 20 to 30 high-traffic pages before writing back in bulk. Read more →
