Product images & video

Lifestyle scenes, marketplace image rules and short-video scripts: AI is for supporting images, not the main photo.

Can you use AI-generated product images? For lifestyle scenes, ad backgrounds and social graphics, yes. For the listing's hero photo, keep a real photo of the real product: buyers can return an item that doesn't match its photos.

Amazon has no blanket ban on AI imagery, but the main image still needs a pure white background and the actual product, and since July 2026 fully AI-generated photorealistic people must be tagged in the image metadata. For video, AI is good at drafting scripts and hook variants; filming and on-camera delivery stay with people.

Common questions

Are AI-generated product images allowed on Amazon?

Yes, there is no blanket ban, and Amazon offers its own free AI image tools for ad creative. Do AI-generated models on Amazon need a label?

Yes. Since Amazon's July 2026 notice, any product image, video or A+ content containing a fully AI-generated photorealistic person must carry contains-synthetic-performer in the XMP dc:subject field before upload. Photos of real models are exempt, even when AI-retouched, as are images with no people in them. The rule covers new uploads only. Read more →

Should I use Midjourney or Canva for ecommerce graphics?

Use both, for different steps. Midjourney generates a background or scene from a text prompt; Canva assembles your real product photo, the scene, your logo and brand text into a correctly sized graphic. If you can only pay for one, Canva alone gets a small team further day to day, because most social and ad graphics rely on consistent branding. Read more →
